Ruffle Skirt & Asymmetrical Blouse with NY & Co.
Hi all,
Summer is around the corner and I've begun pulling out all the bright colors for Spring & Summer - even though the weather here in NYC has been cloudy, cold and rainy for the last two weeks. But, I like to think that the warm, sunny days are almost here, and that makes me happy! So for today's post, I partnered with New York & Co. to share two of my favorite pieces from Eva Mendes line's latest collection: a ruffle floral skirt and a fabulous yellow asymmetrical blouse.
Styling a ruffle skirt & asymmetrical blouse together
These pieces are obviously colorful and fun for Summer, but one of the items that mostly jumps out with any item from the Eva Mendes collection is that their pieces appear to be very luxe, yet friendly on the wallet as most gravitate between $50 and $80. This skirt and blouse combo is incredibly versatile and can styled in countless ways. Together, as I have styled them here, they are perfect brunch, a dinner date, bridal/baby shower and, of course, work. All you have to do is play with your accessories to better complement the outfit depending on which ever you're heading to. So let's take a look at which accessories would work best in each situation:
Work
Consider adding a white or black blazer on top, or potentially a pastel yellow thin cardigan over the outfit to cover up the arms. For shoes, try a neutral-colored pair of pumps and a finish it off with a great satchel or top handle bag. Plus, another advantage is that you can easily take it from work to happy hour!
Dinner Date
Keep it simple, and go for a small clutch and pair of strappy sandals, like I do in the images here.
Brunch/Baby Shower
A day time event can be considered a bit more casual than a dinner date, so here we can dress it down a bit and we do so by wearing a lower and thicker heel - think: espadrilles and by going for a larger bag, instead of a clutch.
Styling the ruffle skirt on its own
Of course you can wear these items separately too, as they're super versatile. For example, grab the skirt and pair with a black crop top, black strappy sandals and black clutch and you could go out to dinner or around your resort if you're traveling. Alternatively, consider going for a pair white button-down shirt, pair of heeled espadrilles and a boater hat for the perfect weekend outfit.
Styling the yellow asymmetrical blouse on its own
For the yellow asymmetrical top, you have many options as well. Consider trying these: Pair with a great pair of high-waisted skinny denim, add strappy sandals and a fun statement purse for a fun night on the town. For a more dressed-down look, opt for a pair of high-waisted white shorts, the boater hat from before, and add espadrilles and a beach bag and you're ready for the Summer!
Which one of the two pieces do you see yourself wearing? Or is it both? Let me know in the comments below.
As always, thank you for reading!
