NYFW Look: Red MILLY Dress

Hi all,

We're on to day #3 of NYFW (See Day 1 and Day 2)and this one was a really special outfit for me because I got the chance to wear one of my absolute favorite designers to their show, and was wearing one of the pieces from the Spring/Summer collection being debuted there as well. Of course, we're talking about MILLY.

MILLY Spring/Summer

On Friday, I attended the MILLY presentation that took place in SoHo. You can find the video recap on YouTube. But what was really exciting about the show is that this red, asymmetric dress was a part of it, and I had the honor of wearing it. Since it is a Spring/Summer dress and we have to style it for Fall, I needed to make some additions to it. There are different ways of transitioning Spring and Summer dresses into Fall.  One way of doing it is to wear a T shirt, bodysuit or turtleneck underneath. This time, I opted for this boater neck bodysuit from Commando that I received recently. Perfect for the occasion as it didn't steal the spotlight from the dress. When you do this, be sure to stick to neutrals.

Moving on to accessories, we're talking combat boots. You might have seen I spoke about combat boots as a fall trend and even promised to wear them for Fashion Week on TV. As I mentioned there, it's nice sometimes to wear a very feminine outfit, and balance it with masculine shoes, such as the combat boots.

For jewelry, I was looking for long earrings to wear, something that would elevate the outfit, and here, By Malka delivers again with these dressy, long earrings. Finally, the clutch which is from Khirma NY. I usually prefer to stick to ensuring that out of the bag, shoes and jewellery, at least two of them "match" in terms of how dressy they are. Here, I was wearing casual shoes, but dressy earrings, so I could have gone either way. I opted to go the fancy route, and so in came this fun metallic clutch because in addition to dressing up the outfit, it also adds much needed shape and structure to the outfit.

What's your favorite piece? Let me know in the comments below!

xoxo,

Christie
