The SLS South Beach Hotel - Stay & Review

Hi all,

While visiting Miami for WMC and the Miami Tennis Open, I had the fortune to stay at the SLS South Beach Hotel. A beautiful hotel located right on the beach making it the perfect hotel for your next Miami trip. Below, I'll outline my experience, and tell you all about it, so let's dive right in.

SLS South Beach Hotel

The hotel is located on Collins Avenue and 17th St. which positions it mere blocks away from the famous Lincoln Road and right on the beach. If you're looking to get to the downtown Miami area, you're likely looking at no more than 15 minutes in a taxi or UBER. A short cab ride or nice walk away is the famous Ocean Drive as well.

If you're looking for sports and adventures, you're close to a marina if you want to go out on a boat and not too far from a golf course as well.

SLS South Beach Rooms

The rooms - I mean, the hotel is beautiful already. But the rooms are something else. The overall decor of the hotel gives the impression of a sophisticated old French aristocracy with  spectacular chandeliers and an all white and pink palette. The rooms hint at a bit of naughtiness with mirrors on the ceiling on top of the bed and a "Sinners" box.

The room was spacious and consisted of a king size bed, a small sofa and table to sit at for lunch/breakfast, etc. The bathroom wasn't huge, and it didn't have a bathtub, but the dual shower system was really nice.

SLS South Beach Pools, Beach & Amenities

The South Beach property features two pools (one of which was covered during our stay for Miami Music Week). The pools feature cabanas as well if you prefer to stay out of the sun and lay in the shade while listening to some music. If we're in the mood for something different, the beach is a few steps away and provides you with your choice of regular lounge chairs or a big day bed. A great team takes care of your needs with food, drinks and the like for you to enjoy some time in the sun, but keep your belly and liver in check.

SLS South Beach Restaurants

The oceanfront property features four distinct locations for you to dine at - aside from your room of course and each one is more yummy than the last. Starting outside, you have Hyde Beach which offers great drinks for when you're by the pool alongside yummy food.

Moving closer to the hotel, in the outside terrace before reaching the first pool is Bar Centro, a bar in which we spent a bit of time as its full bar is well stocked and provides the perfect place to sit down outside for a drink and appetizer prior to dinner.

There are two main restaurants in the hotel that are amazing and often welcome residents as well as tourists. Katsuya from Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi features some of the best Sushi in town. At the front also, you have The Bazaar By Jose Andres, an excellent tapas and Spanish cuisine restaurant. I didn't get a chance to visit these two locations this time around but have been there in the past and highly recommend them.

SLS South Beach for WMC / MMW

When Miami Music Week and Winter Music Conference hit Miami - and only then - the hotel transforms into a fun, party-hosting hotel. Every day from Wednesday to Sunday, different high-caliber artists land on the SLS stage for some fun sets. This year, the hotel hosted Luciano & Guy Gerber on Wednesday (which I attended) and proceeded to have the NERVO twins, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike among others. The set up and sound offer the perfect backdrop for an afternoon pool party and evening stage show.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel and invite you to check it out next time you're in Miami. And if you can make it for WMC/MMW, even better!

Do let me know of your experience if you have visited or plan to visit the hotel!

As always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,

Christie
