1 Piece 3 Ways Ep. 3: Velvet
Hi all,
Velvet is easily one of the biggest trends of the season. Just like you think of florals and pastels for Spring, you should think of velvet for Fall & Winter. It's a great luxe fabric that goes well with anything and comes in all sorts of pieces, be it trousers, dresses, tops, blazers and more. So today, we're talking about three different ways of styling and wearing velvet for Fall & Winter.
Velvet Pants
I'm a big fan of velvet pants and actually am the owner of a few of them, in different colors. They're a great separate to have that can be styled with many different tops, such as a button down white cotton or silk top. For a casual look, you can pair the pants with a t-shirt (black, white or striped) with a denim jacket and sneakers or loafers.
These velvet navy pants in particular, I'm in love with. They're from Veronica Beard and feature a great sailor-like inspo, with their beautiful nautical-style buttons. Today, I opted to match fabrics with the top as well and do a velvet on velvet look. Personally, when I do velvet on velvet, I prefer to keep the colors of the two pieces the same, and so came in this black velvet top. The accessories are also black, with strappy heeled sandals and a black bucket bag from Ximena Kavalekas, though I could have opted for pops of color. Where I added a bit of color instead, was with the denim jacket. It also helped make the look more casual in nature.
Velvet Dress
A velvet dress becomes the centerpiece of any look most of the time and this one in particular is no different. This Tularosa pink velvet dress is gorgeous and certainly a head-turner. Given its color and loud nature, I opted to use black as the complementing color so I opted for thigh-high black boots and black purse. As of late, and in particular since Paris Fashion Week, I've been inspired by some amazing French styling and so I wanted to add French vibes to this outfit. I do so by adding this black beret (still maintaining the one complementing color) and bow at the end of my braid. It's cute, it's French and it works! It's perfect for date night, or a girls night out - you'll have all the guys and girls looking at you!
Velvet Blazer
We spoke recently about ways of styling blazers. They're a must-have item in every wardrobe. And few are as cute as velvet blazers as they can be styled as separates, or as part of a power suit. Regardless of styling, they're perfect for every day wear and, in particular, for work. Today, I'm drawing inspiration from the military and adding this gorgeous velvet blazer from GUESS. Its detailing is great and it adds the perfect statement to any look. Of course, it is a bit louder than a regular blazer so be sure to let the other items complement it and not fight it. That's why I decided to pair it with straight-leg navy trousers and booties (which also have a a military vibe as well). The cute bag is from Isabel Marant.
So which one of these velvet must-haves is your favorite? And how would you style it? Let me know in the comments below!
As always, thank you for reading!
