1 Piece, 3 Ways - Ep. 5: Styling a Puffer Coat!

Welcome to episode 5 of "1 Piece, 3 Ways"! Today, we're looking at a must-have for the winter season: puffer coats! In particular, we're going to look at examples, how to style them for work, dinner out and casual, and then we're going to go shopping for a few extra ones. So it's going to be a fun episode, let's dive right in!
Metallic Puffer Coat
So the first look we're going to look at uses the metallic puffer coat from Who What Wear - available at Target. I'm a big fan of this one, but we have to keep in mind that given the color and style, this is a statement jacket. So, in order to avoid looking like a Christmas tree, it's important to keep the rest of the outfit somewhat toned down and we can do that with neutrals. Today, I styled it with a pair of black pants and a black turtleneck. You could also choose white or gray for example underneath, but keep it monochrome and neutral and you'll be set.
This look is great for work, for example. Wear the jacket TO work, and then once you arrive you can take it off and you'll still be work appropriate. Heading to Happy Hour after work? No problem, the metallic puffer coat and monochrome look will work great!
Solid Color Puffer Coat
So maybe a loud metallic puffer coat is not your thing. No problem! Instead, opt for a solid color like this Burgundy option from Guess by Marciano - on sale at time of writing! This time, I styled the coat for a nice dinner out or brunch or baby shower and I did that by pairing it with this sweater dress. One thing to note is that it's that again, we're going with a monochrome, neutral dress. Even though the solid color will be less of a statement than a loud metallic, the monochrome is the perfect canvas for the puffer coats. For this look, I paired with a pair of booties, but you can instead opt for an over-the-knee boot or fun pumps as well.
Casual & Versatile Puffer Coat
This last look is the casual option but also the most versatile and we're using items that I guarantee you have in your wardrobe right now: a pair of denim and a black turtleneck. The trick for this one are the shoes. That's right: while the denim+turtleneck combo will remain the same, the show you were will either elevate the look, or keep it casual.
For example, if you go for sneaker or flat, the look is perfect for errands, or a sports event, Alternatively, you could go for booties and head to dinner, drinks or the movies. And the best part of it all? No matter what puffer coat you end up choosing, this look will work with it. You can go for the metallic option from the 1st look, the solid color option of the second look, or alternatively, you can go for a design or print, like this camo print from this American Eagle puffer coat.
