Runway to Sidewalk: Ralph Lauren Cozy Fall 2018 Look
Hi all,
On this first post of November, I’m super excited to bring back the Runway to Sidewalk, a new series in which we draw inspiration from an outfit seen on the runways and then go looking for ways to make it more wearable and accessible. Don’t worry: the real look will be linked and described as well so you can make the decision as to which to shop for. So, let’s talk all about this look from Ralph Lauren’s 50th Anniversary 2018 collection and how to style it for the street!
Don’t forget: you can shop both the runway and the sidewalk look here and below. Plus, leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on the outfit!
Polo Ralph Lauren 2018
We’re all big fans of Ralph Lauren and their runway is one of the most sought-after for inspiration. I always associate Ralph Lauren with this understated chic, easy-to-wear, semi-causal luxe look. A quick look at their runways collection from Fall should explain why.
The look
This particular look from the Polo Ralph Lauren Fall 2018 show was one of my favorite. Why? Well, it does exactly what I love: It’s chic. It’s an easy-to-wear, comfy, cozy look. And it has this semi-casual, luxe vibe to it. You know it’s been well-put-together, but you’re also not ridiculously over-dressed either. What you’ll also find is that it’s made up of some wardrobe staples that you might - or should - already have in your wardrobe.
The Polo Ralph Lauren look also has hints to one of Fall’s biggest trends: the western influence. Just take a look at that belt, for example!
As of writing, we’re still waiting for the look and the pieces to go on sale. But I couldn’t really wait to wear it during a recent Vermont trip, so I sought out key pieces to make my own.
the selects
So starting with the first layer, we take a look at this gorgeous copper-tone dress. This one is from Spell & The Gypsy and I’m linking it below but it’s low in stock. If you click on the image, you might be able to find a similar one as well. What we’re after though, is a copper silk slip dress so you might even have one in your closet already.
Next up, the blazer. We’ve recently talked all about plaid, the quintessential fall print. This one is a double-breasted plaid blazer and it’s a piece that if you don’t have in your wardrobe, you should. Regardless of this particular Runway to Sidewalk look, it’s a piece that goes with everything for Fall & Winter and you should have one. Always! For other ideas on how to style, see my video on everything plaid.
The cardigan adds the cozy aspect to this look. When looking for a fair isle cardi like this one, I purposely sized up. The look Ralph Lauren went for was an oversized look, so to achieve the same, we want to size up. I found this one at Anthropologie and it’s another piece that is great for this look, but also perfect for cozy Winter days and nights.
Time to talk accessories now: the belt brings forth the western trend for fall & winter in a subtle way and can do so for this look, or any other look making the buy a versatile one. You might even have one already. The socks I’m wearing here are actually Ralph Lauren and the boots are your go-to winter boots. These are suede, brown winter combat boots.
Where to wear?
This is a great Thankgiving look if you’re already thinking in advance a bit. The beauty of it is that since it’s a dressed-up casual look, it fits into many occasions. From Thanksgiving dinner, to having friends over for a cozy evening, to a mountain getaway, to even errands around town. It’s versatile, and made from some key pieces we might all have in our wardrobes. So it’s a no-brainer!
Try the look out and send me images of your own Runway to Sidewalk look! I’ll feature my favorites below after I receive them!
xo,
Christie
