NYFW day one look: Scarf Print with The Kooples
Hi all,
We're kicking off NYFW coverage with the outfit I wore for Day 1 of NYFW, on Thursday which features not only a super cute piece from The Kooples, but also a piece I shared recently in my scarf print trend 101 video and articles. So why this piece? How can you style it? Let's dive in:
Don't forget to leave a comment below with your thoughts on this look, and whether you'll be rocking the scarf print this season too!
nyfw day one - the kooples
Though The Kooples shows in Paris, I was so into the scarf print trend after doing the video, that I knew I wanted to wear this piece. We spoke in the video about how the trend was featured on several runways, including Self Portrait, Ferragamo and Tory Burch and it's a big one for Fall - perfect for NYFW too. This kimono is an absolute gorgeous piece, and one that can be worn to parties, but also to the office and out, making it a very versatile piece. One item to mention, however, is that to wear it as I do here, I had to add a pin at the front, so it wouldn't open up with a big gust of wind. Any tailor can do this, or maybe you can even do this yourself, but it's something I recommend if you want to wear it as a dress like I do here. Do note: I also wore biker shorts underneath just in case, which is another big trend we've spoken about recently.
how to style scarf print kimono
to work
Pair the kimono with black wide-legged pants and a black top - monochrome, allowing the kimono to be the statement - and black pointed to shoes. Here, you're not so much wearing it as a dress, like I do in the pictures, but more so like a normal kimono.
to go out
Style like I do here as a dress, with heels or ankle booties. Add a clutch and you're ready to go. Remember what I said about the pin though!
to brunch
Style the kimono with a pair of denim, and a white tee underneath. Here, we're trying to make the kimono a bit more casual, so add booties, or low heels and you're good to go!
