Trip in Review: Pompeii
Hi all,
This Summer I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Positano and the Amalfi Coast. On my way there, I was able to stop and see Pompeii as well. For those that might be unfamiliar, Pompeii was a town of the ancient Roman Empire that was destroyed when the nearby volcano, Mount Vesuvius, became active and buried the city in a cloud of ash. I'm not too much of a history geek (my husband is though), but I have to tell you: What an incredible experience. Let's dive in to talk a bit about Pompeii and, of course, the outfit I wore too. :) Duh!
My Time in Pompeii
Since I was going to be driving the Amalfi Coast and stopping in Positano, I flew into Naples and rented a car there. From Naples, the Amalfi Coast is about an hour and change drive. Pompeii though is in between Naples and the coast making it the perfect 1/2 stop on the way to Positano, or when you're heading back to the airport. We stopped on our way down as our first stop in Italy and I was quite taken aback. Perhaps some of you have seen the Coliseum, and the nearby Roman Forum. This town is many times the size, making it quite the adventure to get lost in old streets. Plus, many aspects of the past are preserved remarkably well, including frescos, pottery, and the buildings themselves. As a non-history buff, I was quite impressed with it all and definitely recommend a stop if you haven't seen it yet.
The Outfit for Pompeii
It was hot! Italy in the Summer can get quite hot, and in mid July, we were approaching the 90s/30s and there isn't much shade in Pompeii, so the day called for a loose piece that'll allow me to get some sun and not sweat profusely. Enter this Wildfox sleeveless Chambray Gene Romper that is perfect for a hot summer day like this. I styled it with my "Let's Goo Anywhere" (By the way, is there a more perfect vacation bucket bag?) from Palma Canaria and Soludo flats.
Have you visited Pompeii? How would you style this jumpsuit for another occasion? Let me know in the comments below!
As always, thank you for reading!
xoxo,
Christie
