Best Instagram Spots: Lake Como

Excited to bring you a new edition of the “Best Instagram Spots” series! If you haven’t seen some recent ones, check out Best Instagram Spots: Miami, NYC - Financial District and 30A. Today, we’re looking at some of my favorite spots in Lake Como, Italy. If you do an Italy trip, and if you’re planning on heading to the northern part of Italy, like Milan, Venice, Florence, Tuscany or Torino, then Lake Como should be added to your plans, even if for a day trip.
Lake Como
Located about 45 minutes north of Milan, Lake Como is considered one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Recently dubbed by Huffington Post as the “most beautiful lake in the world”, and home to many celebrities, including perhaps most famously, George and Amal Clooney. It is also the deepest lake in Italy, and one of the deepest in the world.
Where to take pictures in Lake Como?
Rent a Boat
When on the lake… - there’s no better idea than renting a boat to take you around the lake, and the picture you can get are going to be breath-taking! There are so many great pictures to get, but be sure to ask your captain to take you to Orrido di Nesso - a secret waterfall! Then you can get the classic “sitting-on-a-boat” shot or play with the reflection of the town or mountains in the water!
Visit Como or Bellagio
These two quaint and charming towns are must-sees. In Bellagio, wander the streets for some shopping and lunch. The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is a stunning property too if you’d prefer to stay there.
Visit a Villa
We visited and stayed at Villa D’Este, an extraordinary property located right on the lake. This huge villa features a beautiful dock, stunning gardens and three restaurants. If you can’t stay here, at least, I’d recommend to have lunch or dinner and walk the property.
