3 comebacks to use when someone offers you unsolicited advice.

3 comebacks to use when someone offers you unsolicited advice.

-“Would that help me, or you?”

This is a sassier comment so I would use this one with someone you’re comfortable with and don’t mind expanding on when they ask you more.

-“A valid point, I’ll let you know if I need anything.”

This is a good one to use with family members, friends, or coworkers. It acknowledges their input, you maintain control because you don’t feel pressured to follow it immediately, it sets boundaries because you’re telling them you’ll reach out if it’s relevant, and is a neutral and respectful way to end the unsolicited advice.

-“No, I’m good.” Then excuse yourself or redirect the conversation.

This is an all-purpose comeback for unsolicited advice and works great with strangers. It’s polite, assertive, and gets to the point across clearly.
