A Versatile Holiday Dress
Hi all,
Before I get into the details, I have an announcement:
MIAMI FRIENDS, this Saturday November 25th, I’ll be hanging out with EXPRESS at their airstream pop-up at Miami International Mall. The event runs from 11:00am to 6:00pm and I’ll be there from 12:30pm-2:30pm. There will be a monogramming station and fun surprises! Hope to see you there!
Back to the dress though: Holiday season is upon us and that means it’s time to shop for dresses. When shopping for dresses or really any piece for that matter, I look for clothing that is versatile. This is because I think any purchase to be worn more than once though, ideally, I want to see how I can wear any given piece to at least three very different occasions to get my bang for the buck. While recently shopping for versatile dresses, I fell in love with this velvet number from Express and today we're going to talk about how to style it three different ways.
The Velvet Dress
You might remember we spoke about velvet not too long ago. It's one of my favorite fabrics. But velvet is a luxe fabric, and you'd think this dress "screamed" expensive, but it's actually really affordable! The length of the dress also makes it perfect for dressier evening affairs while the the v-neck cut made it sexy enough for a romantic evening with your man. For colder temperatures, the spaghetti straps are perfect to allow any shirt to be layered underneath, too!
Now, let's take a look at how to style the look:
With a denim jacket and over-the-knee boots
Add a denim jacket to dress the look down and make it more casual. I love this oversized denim one - also from Express - because of the pearled detailing across the jacket. Pair with black over-the-knee boots and add a bow in your hair to add some elegance to the look.
I'd recommend you wear this look to a holiday party with your friends or a fashion forward evening affair.
Layer a black turtleneck underneath and add combat boots
The v-neck style makes the dress a bit sexy. So if you want to cover up, simply add a fitted black turtleneck underneath and you’re good to go. The dress does have a slip along the left side so make sure to wear stockings if you don’t want to show off your legs. Finish the look with a pair of edgy combat boots and wear a leather jacket across your shoulders and you’ll have yourself an effortless and cool look.
I could see you wearing this outfit during the day for a chic brunch with your girls or a fun date night!
With a great stiletto and you’re cocktail ready
Wear the dress with a great pair of gold stilettos and add a wrap or faux fur coat for some warmth and you’re evening ready.
This look is perfect for a night of dancing or a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant.
