Styling an Off-The-Shoulder Casual Look
Hi all,
Even though we had a flash of cold here in the northern United States, and in NYC in particular, we can feel Spring and Summer coming. But the warm temperatures are not quite here yet so shorts are a no-no and that's why you've seen me wear distressed denim so much lately. It's perfect for the not-too-hot, not-too-cold temperatures we've been experiencing. And today, I paired my go-to pair with a fun casual, off-the-shoulder top, which has been dubbed the "it" off the shoulder of the season by POPSUGAR, and mules.
The Off-the-Shoulder Top
An off-the-shoulder top is both perfect for Summer and Spring, but also right on trend. This blue, ruffle example is one I've been wearing a bit, because it's comfortable and like the jeans, perfect for the temperatures we've had. Here, I styled it with the distressed denim (shop similar here, here and here) and mules.
But how else could you style it? Depends on the occasion, right? Headed to a more formal event, such as a baby shower or night out? Consider pairing with high-waisted white linen trousers. If it's a bit chilly, try adding a blazer on top to cover said exposed shoulders.
Headed to a summer BBQ? Grab your go-to pair of denim shorts, espadrilles and you're good to go as well, keeping it simple, casual, yet chic. The only place I'd discourage from wearing this top is obviously work, due to the shoulders.
For the shoes here, I grabbed one of my favorite pairs of mules. These have a low heel, and are super comfortable to wear around town, yet are a step-up to flats. I've been obsessed with these as of late.
To finish the look off, and to practice my usual mixing of high-end investment pieces with high street items, I added this beautiful Ximena Kavalekas Jenny bag. I've had the chance to meet Ximena personally, and absolutely love her and all her bags. Definitely recommend it if you're in the market for a new investment bag.

As always, thank you for reading!
