NYFW Eyewear Recap with Eyecessorize

Hi all,

NYFW is always one of the highlights of the year and this season was no different. By now, I hope you’ve had the opportunity to check out some of the OOTD articles and if you haven’t, I invite you check them out. One thing you’ll notice throughout most of the looks is that I finished styling most outfits with a pair of sunglasses or eyeglasses for those days I didn’t feel like wearing contacts. I’ve always found that a good pair of glasses can really enhance any outfit. So I was super excited to partner with Eyecessorize – The Vision Council’s campaign to promote the fashion and lifestyle aspects of eyewear - this season to figure out together the best sunnies and specs for the looks I was wearing. So if you were a fan of any of them, or simply would like more information on frames for you, read on!

The Perfect Outfit Finisher

I’ve written before about how eyewear is pretty much a must-have for any day outfit and if you’re like me, having just one pair isn’t enough, right? Eyewear has become something you have to build a small collection of, like handbags and shoes, to interchange depending on the outfit you’re wearing. The right pair can make a huge difference.

So this year I chose 5 different pairs to feature with my looks. All of which are included in the video you see here.

The first look was all about vintage as I was wearing a vintage Chanel dress. So naturally I thought adding a pair of sunnies that added a bit of glam and further explored the vintage concept would be a win-win. These Derek Lam sunnies were the perfect choice thanks to their thick rim and unique shape. It gave the look a 50s-60s style.

The second look was an all-black look that featured a fun pop of pink via a flowy skirt. As I was wearing mostly golden jewelry and accents, I wanted to find a pair of sunglasses that would match and complement the look. Luckily, I was able to find these round ones from Robert Marc.

The next look featured as the “hero” piece a gorgeous Self-Portrait dress. While the dress had white accents, and I was wearing a white turtleneck underneath, I thought the teal rims from these Etnia Barcelona sunnies were the perfect complement to the look itself.

Outfit #4 was styled for a rainy, cold day and required three distinct layers starting with a turtleneck underneath, a gorgeous blue dress from Tibi and a fun vinyl, black rain coat. But you’ll also notice I added another pop of color via this fun little pink wrist bag. When looking for eyewear to finalize the look, I immediately was drawn to this pink pair from Ted Baker as I thought they matched the bag perfectly. Matching the color of the rims to other accessories you’re wearing is always an easy combo and one that’ll always look great!

The final outfit features a super fun black overall jumpsuit from Rosie Assoulin that I wore to her presentation. Underneath, I styled a white blouse with black and red designs. You’ll notice I opted for a pair of black and red statement earrings. With all the black I was wearing, I knew I wanted to feature a black pair of eyewear. But sunnies or eyeglasses? These black-rimmed ones from the kate spade new york were perfect because they provided the right accent, without overpowering.
