4 Tips to Help You Work on Consistency
Hi all,
Excited to bring a new Dr. C’s post and today we’re talking about consistency. Being consistent day in and day out is hard! And on Stories, most are saying they’re not as consistent as they’d like (hey, I’m not either). Here are 4 #DrCsTips to help out with consistency.
Tips to Improve Consistency
Consistency is important for making progress on anything we are working on, like getting in shape for instance. Most New years resolutions or intentions fall through because we fall off the horse after the novelty has worn off. So here are 4 tips to help out!
1. HAVE A DAILY SCHEDULE. Make appts on a calendar and protect them. Plan the task earlier in the day rather than later, as we’re more likely to make excuses later in the day. If an interruption pops up, treat it the same way as if we were in a meeting with the boss. “Sorry - can’t re-schedule”.
2. Catch Unhelpful thoughts. They can really prevent us from moving toward a goal. Why? Because our thoughts affect our emotions that can in turn affect our behaviors. I go more into this on stories. Once we catch it, pretend our friend told us this thought, give them advice, but then apply it towards ourselves.
3. Make the process fun or more manageable along the way. We tend to love rewards but don’t think about the hard work it takes to get there. So because hard work can be boring, let’s try to make it fun or easier. One of my new year’s intentions is to work out which I’m no fan of. But I’m making it fun by buying cute workout clothes and working out with my girlfriend.
4. Track progress visually on a calendar. Sometimes it can be so rewarding to see a check mark each day of knowing that day we worked on what we wanted to. It’s almost like giving ourselves our own gold sticker!
