3 Tips For a Good Night Sleep
This blog post was sponsored by Purple. Opinions and Tips are my own!
Hi all,
Excited to bring a brand-new blog post as part of my Dr C’s Tips series, and we’re talking all about tips to get a good night sleep. I’ve partnered with Purple because who doesn’t want to get a good night sleep? One of those in which you go to bed quickly, sleep through the night and wake up the next morning 100% refreshed. You might be doing little things that are hurting your sleep, and aside from small habit changes, a good mattress can make all the difference. So let’s dive in and talk 3 tips to help you fall asleep – and stay asleep!
3 Tips for a good night sleep
Tip 1:
Avoid electronics at least 1 hour before bedtime. Why? Blue light is emitted from electronics which prevents the release of melatonin - the hormone that helps us feel sleepy.
Also avoid caffeine at least 6 hours before bedtime! Why? It disrupts sleep. Alcohol and liquids in general are also best to be avoided because they may make us need to use the restroom in the middle of the night.
Tip 2:
Have a consistent bedtime routine (even on the weekends !) Bedtimes aren’t just for kids; they work so good for everyone because they help train our brains to be ready for sleep at a certain time.
Get into bed no earlier than 15-20 minutes of when we naturally fall asleep , so we have enough sleep pressure to doze off easily. Oh , and avoid naps (only for adults) throughout the day because they make it harder to fall asleep at night (not true for babies - they need naps)!
Tip 3:
Sleep on a good mattress in a cool, dark room that is free from loud noises!
Being uncomfortable can prevent us from falling asleep so it’s a good investment to have a good mattress - think of how many hours we spend on one too!
Here are some facts on my new durable Purple mattress:
I have the hybrid premier which is perfect for sleepers who crave that “floating” effect . It took me a bit to get used to it, but the floating effect provides a level of comfort that you feel no strong pressure point anywhere, and that’s good to fall asleep, and not wake up with any pain anywhere.
The mattress has cooling features - essentially has 1,800 air channels built into the temperature-neutral grid and breathable foams used in the base, so we can stay comfortable all night.
Also , the purple gel grid immediately flexes to support our positions and springs back into place as we readjust and move overnight. Also cradles points like hips and shoulders providing extra padding and the support we need.
Try these tips out and be sure to let me know how they work for you! And check out Purple and pick the right mattress for you.
Xo,
